SAFE-T

Origin & History

Shelter Agencies for families in East Texas, Inc., aka SAFE-T, began in 1995 when residents and businesses united to provide shelter services for abused women in children in North East Texas. These services now include many additional programs including Sexual Assault, Batterer's Intervention Prevention (BIPP), R.I.S.K. (Resource, Information, Skills and Resources) an anger management group for teens, and The Child Supervised Visitation and Exchange Program.

SAFE-T is run by 21 staff members, 15 board members and many volunteers. Our mission is to create an environment where abuse and violence are not tolerated in the communities we serve. SAFE-T believes physical, emotional or sexual abuse of one human being by another is unacceptable. SAFE-T believes all abuse diminishes the full expression of life.
