Increase in Clients
In the last 4 years, SAFE-T has seen a 174% increase in total number of clients from 1,717 in 2017 to 4,710 in 2020. These clients all came from Camp, Delta. Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, Titus or Wood counties in East Texas. In the same amount of time, SAFE-T Crisis Center has had an 850% increase in total number of clients needing emergency shelter.

1 in 3 women have experienced sexual assault, physical violence or stalking by in intimate partner.
Study found that when a sexual assault victim has the support of an advocate, they experience less secondary trauma by the medical or legal system, they fare better in the short and long term, and are more likely to file a police report than those without an advocate.

A number of studies show that domestic violence shelters and program are addressing victims urgent and long-term needs, and are helping victims protect themselves and their children.
Around 26% of children under the age of 18 are exposed to domestic violence in their lifetime.
The estimated life-time cost of a sexual assault is $122,461 per victim and only 32% can be recovered by government sources. This includes medical bills, loss of work, legal system fees, or property damage.
It Can Happen to Anyone
In 2019, 1,836 of SAFE-T’s clients were female, 738 were male, and 1 identified as Transgender. 699 clients were between 0-6 years old, 661 were between 7 and 17 years old, 250 were between 18-24 years old, 918 were between 25-59 years old, and 47 were greater than 60 years old. This goes to show, that domestic violence and sexual assault, cross all ages, and genders.
